Contact your doctor online for non-urgent matters and avoid phone queues!

How does the service work?

  • Complete a simple form about your problem or request
  • Your GPs decide on the best treatment for you
  • The practice responds with advice or an appointment
  • You will get a response within 2 working days

Routine Appointment

Our appointment system allows you to book non-urgent appointments up to four weeks in advance.  You will normally be allocated a 15 minute appointment.

If you have more than one problem to discuss then please let the receptionist know so a longer appointment can be made.

Urgent Appointment

If you have a problem  which you believe needs to be dealt with on the day you call then you will be offered one of the following:

  • A telephone appointment with an urgent care practitioner from our Primary Care Network team
  • An appointment with a doctor that day
  • An appointment with a nurse that day
  • Telephone advice from a doctor

Please note that it may not be possible for you to speak to your usual doctor.

Telephone Appointments

We offer telephone appointments. If you would like to speak to a doctor or nurse please call reception and ask to book a telephone appointment.

 

Transport

If you need help getting to the Surgery then please contact Ryedale Community Transport (Tel. 01653 699059). 

If you think you are eligible for patient transport for hospital appointments please contact Yorkshire Ambulance Service on 0300 330 2000.  Due to eligibility questions Surgery staff are unable to call on your behalf.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot make your appointment then please notify the Surgery as soon as possible so that your appointment can be offered to someone else, even if you can only give us a few minutes notice. 

You can cancel your appointment online or by calling the Surgery on 01751 431254, choosing option 4 and leaving a message on our dedicated cancellation line.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). 

 

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

 

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10.00am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back to gather more information to assess your situation to priortise the order of visiting or to arrange for help to come to you from other healthcare professionals as well as your GP.

House visits should only be requested for  patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit and also  that we have better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

 

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Travel vaccinations

If you're planning to travel outside the UK you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Training Practice

The surgery is proud to be an approved practice for fully qualified doctors from the York GP Training Programme and who have been working in hospital medicine for several years before they come and train in General Practice. Please regard them as one of us.
